Day 91 - Diana & Henri's Summer Wedding Reception

I was invited to Diana and Henri's wedding reception at their home at Otalampi, about 25minutes drive from where I live in Nummela. I didn't want to arrive empty handed so I thought I'd make some banana chocolate chips muffins. Dashed out to the store before its closing hours and searched high and low for chocolate chips but couldn't find any. So I bought what I thought was closest to it.

Came home, lalala, blended in all ingredients, and just as I was ready to bake them, Helmi came by, looked at my ingredients, picked up the empty packet of 'chocolate chips', and said, 'Why you put this?' I said, 'Cos I'm making banana chocolate chips muffins.' To which she replied, 'This is not chocolate.'

That was when I only realised the packaging said 'Tyrkisk Peber' and there was fire behind those text. 'This is spicy.' Omggggg!!!!

Turned out I put in turkish pepper, a type of candy that tastes like licorice, or maybe it is licorice, I dunno. Banana and licorice?! I've got no words.

It's the first time I made something I don't like it myself. So I made another batch of chocolate banana muffins using cocoa powder. Just in case.

Banana+turkish pepper; chocolate+banana

On the other hand, I made some meringue. A tad too big. Oops. Dunno what's up with me lately la. Screwing up recipes (not just this time), spilling half a pot of water onto the induction, overcooking due to very poor estimation skills, bah!

Oh yeah, and a macaroni casserole I quite like. Actually, I'd like anything cream based. Nothing in it except cucumber, capsicum, and shredded ham. Basically, those are the things I could find in the fridge. No cheese, though. Sadness.

The drive to Diana's place wasn't too far, but it was through fields and forests. Thankfully, I took along a detailed map with all the names of the roads I'll pass by, just so I won't ever ever get lost in the middle of nowhere. It's a good thing that almost all roads here have signs, though. And pat me on the back cos I drove manual all the way to Otalampi without
dying fire hehehe.

Let's see what else I've learned these past few days:

- there's a candy called 'Turkish Pepper' and the crushed version is meant for ice cream
- spooning meringue balls doesn't mean spooning big dollops
- use the key to open the gas tank to refill gas
- continue to drive, even if the road has got no more tar
- whackit!'s ep13 is officially out to embarrass all of us
- all the kids ever want out of the episode is the big mama gun and getting wet in the whack chamber. seriously.
