Day 6 in Helsinki

Before I left, a lot of people asked me why Finland. I replied, 'just cos I have a direct link'. Now that I'm here, I wonder why myself. I don't understand a single word people are saying, I have no idea what to do or where to go or how things work here, and my only friend is holidaying in Iceland. But then again, I guess it's the same almost anywhere else. Don't be so hard on yourself lah Julia Moh, it's only the first week.

I'd really love to have something warm for breakfast. My breakfast so far have been nothing but bread with cold cuts and cheese, or cereal with milk from the fridge. Anu asked me what do I normally eat for breakfast, I said rice. And noodles. Muahaha. Aku nak makan nasi lemak. I shall try to make some one day.

I have a feeling they think Malaysia is damn kuno. They asked me questions like do you have European food in M'sia, do you eat steak in M'sia, do you have H&M in M'sia, do you have shopping malls or individual stores in Msia and some more I can't remember now. Anyway, Finland is a fish eating nation. I was hoping they'd have pork knuckles here but they don't =( Hope I can go to Germany one day.

Went grocery shopping at Prisma and to Espoo today with Anu. She needed to exchange some clothes she bought for Eliel yesterday so I told her I want to follow to look see. Went to some shopping mall I don't know the name. Saw more people other than the 5 in the house and gosh, they are tall and beautiful. Made me feel so small =( Well, not everyone is tall though, and not everyone is obese like in the States lol. But the tall girls are really pretty.

Had pork steaks for dinner today. Meats are normally grilled but you can only do so in the summer. Other times are too cold to stand outside the house and grill. The steaks are supermarket marinated: honey mustard and bbq. Both tasted great. Anu also stuffed blue cheese into some mushrooms to grill. Sidelines were fries and salad. Everything was good. The kids do not like mushrooms, for some reason. I was told Helmi and Eemil were picky eaters. I was surprised to hear that. I was just telling myself these kids are good cos they're not picky about their food. Everytime I make something, they'll eat. Well, at least they'll try and eat. And if they don't like it, they'll say they don't like it but they won't complain too much. And then they'll know what not the eat the next time.

The milk I've been drinking is also lactose free, other than it being fat free. I learned that there are 3 people at home that are lactose intolerant. There is a huge variety of dairy products here. Milk alone has got like 1250356 types - lactose free lah, low lactose lah, 1% fat lah, 0% fat lah, maito rahka lah, jogurtti lah, and something else between milk and yoghurt lah (it's not as dilute as milk but not as thick as yoghurt. I dunno what is it called) and many more.

I've decided I should go to the city tomorrow. I'll go get a Finnish SIM card, go buy a camera and start taking photos, and then maybe go sit by the lake on Sunday. I shall pack my lunch so I don't have to spend too much Euro.

It's the weekend. It's Friday night. It certainly feels different than when in KL but I still miss my crazy party friends. If anyone of you are reading this, I WANT TO HANG OUT WITH YOU GUYS, DRINK AND PASS OUT IN THE CAR OK. I miss you guys =(

Have a nice weekend people. I'd have to adjust to my new weekends from now onwards.
