Happy CNY!!

Artist/Band: Tanya Tucker
Lyrics for Song: Delta Dawn
Lyrics for Album: Delta Dawn

Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky
She's forty-one and her daddy still calls her "baby"
All the folks around Brownsville say she's crazy
'Cause she walks around town with a suitcase in her hand
Looking for a mysterious dark-haired man
In her younger days they called her Delta Dawn
Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on
Then a man of low degree stood by her side
And promised her he'd take her for his bride
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky
The song is about a woman from Brownsville who is hinted at being mentally unstable. One of the sets of lyrics to evidence this is, "She's 41 and Daddy still calls her "baby" / All the folks 'round Brownsville say she's crazy." The song tells the story of the woman meeting Jesus (the "mysterious dark-haired man"), dying, and going to Heaven (the "mansion in the sky").
I love this song!! Heard it over the radio when I was driving back home after dropping Zorig, my so-called godbrother (cos my parents so-called treat him like a godson), at the college. The song started with an acapella choir, which I totally adore acapella. I never really paid attention to the song until the chorus when the choir backed up again. And then, I heard the last line "...to his mansion in the sky-y..." It sounded sooo familiar. I hear again...and I heard!! "Delta Dawn..what's that flower you have on? Could it be the faded rose from days gone byyyy..."
Delta Dawn!! Now I know where I heard it from. In one of the episodes of Friends, (you bhanders should know!!) Phoebe's boyfriend, Mike (the short cute guy. I thk his name was Mike. Haha), plays piano in a erm, pub? Phoebe and Monica was there and Phoebe suggested that Monica should sing. And she sang Delta Dawn. It's not the song that mattered in that episode but it was that Monica wasn't wearing any bra and when she went up on stage, the lights shone on her, her shirt became transparent! Remember? Remember? You bhanders should remember!! The men (the audience) was wooing and cheering for her but she thought she sang so well that they loved her and wanted to sing again!! Typical Monica.
Sorry la. I just love Friends. Some may find it I dunno, sissy? Like how we find BSB, Westlife and those boybands now :P But I love Friends. End of story.
Have I mentioned I'm proud to be Chinese? I'm proud of my own roots; where I came from and where I grew up, regardless of whatever shit I've went through. I'm proud my parents are Chinese, and my grandparents were from Mainland China. I'm actually glad they decided to migrate to this Malay country so many years ago, and together with the Indian immigrants who have decided to come here as well, which creates this multi-racial country where everyone can have loads of fun and holidays during festive seasons; minus the 'peace and harmony' they are trying to create. Lol. Above all, I still hate the fact the Malays think they have ALL the power and authority over this country and they should get more benefits than everyone else just because they have lived here first. Hello? Ever heard of the aborigines? THEY are the originals okay??Gah. Blardi hell. Okay. So the tribes do get their benefits too. But I can't stand it when they act like they're above all things k? Like their people should get the highest chance of getting into universities when they do not even deserve that much of a chance. But anyway, thanks to them, our people become more hardworking and excel waaaayy much better then them. Hah.
I better stop.
Hrm. Anyway, I was watching this dance in MV while waiting for that Ah ma Kow for dinner last week. The theme was "Where tradition meets trend". So their costumes were a mix of modern, trendy and traditional materials. Even the dance movements were the same. I dunno. It was then that I felt I'm proud to be a Chinese.
I have one week break from work, thanks to all the public holidays. I've thought of how to seperate my time wisely; meaning being able to do all that I have wanted in one week. (Numbers below represent the days of Chinese New Year)
(1) Go visiting with Nilai friends.
(2) Go to this waterfall in some place called Semenyih, and then go for a dinner in Sban with
Nilai friends.
(3) Go watch Fearless starring Jet Li with mom and dad. Not that I'm interested by they are.
(4) Go watch the long awaited Memoirs of a Geisha with mommy, since now it's the only free
time I have. Dunno when's the next public holiday. And then treat her for manicure and
pedicure, including some foot treatment and hand lift. Dunno what are the last two things
tho.
(5) It's Thursday. Maybe chill-out at home, wait for something to do. Oh, get my passport done.
Go out with mommy again. She might wanna go grocery shopping when all the shops are
closed :P Oh yea, she mentioned to go to this aunt's house in erm, Gombak.
(6) Friday. Go down to KL, meet up with the bhanders and go visiting every bhander's house.
Then invite them to come to my house in Nilai, drink Bailey's and slumber till the next
morning.
(7) Get up in the afternoon, travel back to KL, have low sang at night or something, and then go
back to Woon's aunt's place, wait for Sunday morning, perhaps go to church if his aunt goes.
And then his parents would come back from Australia probably in the evening, and then
probably dinner, and then back to work the next morning :(
The last two agenda is obviously not confirmed and it's a bad idea to drink Bailey's at the night before the low sang dinner. You'd obviously wanna rest after a hangover right? Dunno. Just thought everyone would get lazy to move their asses to a restaurant and low sang happily. And also, bhander Kow has to work on Thurs and Fri. Aww...you poor thang. Haha.
Anyway, it's Monday. I didn't go to the waterfall cos nobody wanted to pick me up :( But not like I felt like going too. Cheng Pay didn't go also. If he did, I'd probably erm, ask him to pick me up. Hahah. I'm so bad. But the dinner's on. I'm going. And I'll have to go get ready now.
Visiting was ok yest. Will blog about it later. Thought of watching Fearless today since not going to waterfall so I would have more time for other things too. But daddy said the newspaper said Sban is packed with people. Ish. Need slap la these ppl. Chinese New Year ok!! You should be back in your hometown!! Oh, this IS your hometown? Sigh, the cons of living in a small town.
